National Associates, Inc., a division of Farmers since 2014, was established in 1946 and is driven to deliver custom solutions to our clients. As a third-party retirement plan administration firm, we are committed to providing high-quality consulting, administrative and recordkeeping services.
National Associates, Inc. was originally conceived to service corporate pension plans, which became more predominant in the 1940s due to clarification of pension trusts within the Internal Revenue Code and the fact corporate tax rates were increasing. Starting in 1942, employer contributions to a qualified pension plan became deductible for federal tax purposes due to the above clarification. National Associates, Inc. grew as pension plans became popular in the Midwest, where many manufacturing firms blossomed.
This trend continued, and National Associates, Inc. also began administering qualified employer profit-sharing and money-purchase plans, group annuity plans and eventually 401(k) plans when they were established in the early 1980s due to a loophole in the Internal Revenue Code. As traditional pension and money-purchase plans now continue to decline in numbers, National Associates, Inc. dedicates the majority of its resources to 401(k), 403(b), profit-sharing, ESOP, 457 and Cash Balance plans.
